5 Main Differences With UK/US Skins
Although NYMag already did an article about the differences, it seems to me like the author just watched episode 1 from both UK/US and made a compare and contrast. Thus, here are some actual major differences between the two:

UK: Fat Segal’s instrumental song that set the mood for series 1 (and changing as the series continue).

At this point, I just wish that they had started over completely for America. Although it’s obviously similar to the UK version, there are too many major character changes (in terms of sex and ethnicity) to make me totally on board the US version of Skins. Mostly, I just miss Maxxie and a black Jal.
They’re obviously trying to make it a different VERSION of the original....
